Police identified Kyle Redden as the man killed after he was struck by a car Saturday on River Street.
Redden, 22, was walking home from a party when he was hit by a car driven by Daniel Harris, 55, of Hoosick Falls, police said.
Harris' blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, police said.
He was charged with criminally negligent homicide and manslaughter.
Redden was taken by the Hoosick Falls Rescue Squad to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, where he died, police said.
Officers located and arrested Harris after he left the accident scene, police said. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content over .18 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent.
In addition, he was charged with criminally negligent homicide, first-degree vehicular homicide, second-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, police said.
He was arraigned in village court and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
