Torrance, CA : 2 drivers injured in crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Torrance on Sunday, 17th February 2019

A traffic collision on Pacific Coast Highway on Sunday morning left two drivers seriously injured.

Police shortly before 9 a.m. received a call about a vehicle speeding recklessly on eastbound Pacific Coast Highway, Torrance Police Lt. Hector Bermudez said.A short time later, a second caller reported that the driver of the same vehicle blew a red light and broadsided another car in the Prospect Avenue intersection, Bermudez said.

The drivers of both vehicles were unconscious when law enforcement arrived, the lieutenant said, and were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions in the area as traffic investigators went over the scene. All the lanes were re-opened shortly after 1 p.m.

Authorities suspect that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, Bermudez said.
