Ashville , AL: Two People killed in head on Collision along Alabama Highway 23 near Bo Coffee Road on Wednesday Morning , February 18th 2015
Two people were killed in a head-on collision in Ashville early this morning.
The crash happened at 7:48 a.m. on Alabama Highway 23 near Bo Coffee Road. Ashville police Chief Dennis Matthews said the drivers of both cars were killed.
One of the drivers was a male; the other a female. There were no other injuries. St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell this afternoon identified the victims as 36-year-old Melina Steele and 59-year-old Roaul Rush Smith, both of Ashville.
Matthews said police had been searching for one of the vehicles in connection with a hit-and-run that took place 10 minutes earlier. The chief said
there were no injuries in that incident.
He said police were not pursuing the vehicle when it crashed. The investigation, he said, is ongoing.
