Stamford,CT : $5.4 million settlement in crash on January, Monday 22nd 2018
It was a crash ripped from the pages of New York society.
James B. Hurlock, of Greenwich, chairman of Orient Express Hotels and a partner in the global law firm White & Chase, was killed and his wife was injured when they were struck by a car driven by Sebastian Rodriguez-Boulan, the son of prominent Manhattan doctors.
This week the lawyers for Rodriguez-Boulan agreed to pay a $5.4 million settlement to the Hurlock family.
“It was significant in this case that, despite contesting liability, the main defendant paid the full amount of his insurance policy,” said the Hurlock’s lawyer, Ernest Teitell of the Stamford law firm Silver Golub & Teitell. “This allowed the Hurlocks to know that this defendant was held responsible for the death of Mr. Hurlock and the injuries they both suffered.”
James Hurlock, 82, and his wife, Margaret, on Feb. 15, 2016, were passengers in a car being driven by their son, James Hurlock III, traveling north on Echo Lane in Greenwich, according to the lawsuit filed in Superior Court here.
