HILLSDALE, IL : Driver charged with DUI in I-88 accident Wednesday on Wednesday, March 29th 2017

A Des Plaines man was hospitalized and charged for driving under the influence after a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.

Dennis P. Farrell, 62, was driving west in eastbound lanes of Illinois 88 around 5 a.m., according to an Illinois State Police news release. His 2004 Honda Accord struck head-on a 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by Jamin Perez Salgado, 23, of Des Moines, near mile marker 10.

Both vehicles left the roadway and entered the center median.

Mr. Farrell was transported to Illini Hospital for his injuries. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, the release says.

The Hillsdale Fire Department and Rock Island County Sheriff's Office assisted in response.
