SACRAMENTO, CA : One person died in a wrong-way crash on Saturday, September 9, 2017
Southbound lanes of Interstate 5 are closed near J Street after one person died in a wrong-way crash, Caltrans said.The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday after officials said a wrong way driver was going up the I-5 off ramp when it hit a semi truck head on, causing a massive fire, Caltrans said.
The driver of the car died at the scene. The truck driver was able to escape the flames. It is unclear if the truck driver was taken to the hospital.
Traffic is being diverted off of Richards Boulevard.
I-5 is expected to reopen around 3 p.m, CalTrans said.
