LINCOLN COUNTY, WV : Child killed in side-by-side crash in Cabell County on Monday, 16th September 2024

A young boy was killed in a side-by-side crash Monday evening in Cabell County, the sheriff’s office said.

A 9-year-old boy was injured in the incident and taken to a local hospital where he died, according to Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle. The crash was reported in the Cavill Creek Road area of the county.

Lincoln County Schools Superintendent Frank Barnette confirmed that the boy was a student at West Hamlin Elementary School.

The school posted a statement on Facebook on Monday evening about the loss. A crisis team was on site at the school Tuesday.
