Lubbock,TX : Muleshoe woman indicted in fatal Central Lubbock T-bone crash on June, Tuesday 13th 2017
A 32-year-old Muleshoe woman accused of recklessly causing a T-bone wreck that killed a 30-year-old woman was indicted Tuesday by a Lubbock County grand jury.
Shani Laine Nichols is charged with a second-degree felony count of manslaughter, which carries a punishment of two to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors are also alleging her vehicle, a silver Mercury Mariner, was a deadly weapon, which could extend her parole eligibility if she is convicted.
Prosecutors believe Nichols had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit and was speeding in her SUV when she ran a red light on Feb. 25 at the intersection of Indiana Avenue and 34th Street, causing the crash that killed Maggie Davidson of Levelland, according to an arrest warrant.
Lubbock police responded to the intersection about 2:35 a.m. and found an SUV with heavy front-end damage and a blue Ford Fiesta with damage to the driver’s side.
