Abilene, TX : Two people killed and another seriously injured in a traffic accident on State Highway 36 in Callahan County on Saturday night, September 10, 2016

Two people were killed and another seriously injured in a traffic accident Saturday night on State Highway 36.

Deceased are Billy Darwin Kilpatrick, 61, and Gary Lee Scruggs, 53. Gaila Angel Kilpatrick, 58, was a passenger in Billy Kilpatrick's pickup, was seriously injured and taken to Hendrick Medical Center. All three are from Abilene.

A report from Department of Public Safety Trooper Lance Parker indicated the accident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. about five miles east of Abilene, in Callahan County.

The report said Billy Kilpatrick's truck was traveling west and struck a guard rail on the north side of the highway. It then glanced off and stuck Scruggs' eastbound pickup head-on.

Road conditions were wet, according to the report.

Billy Kilpatrick was not wearing a seat belt. The other two people were.
