Pensacola, FL : Milton woman dies in crash on Interstate 10 on Sunday, September 11, 2016

A Milton woman was killed Sunday after her vehicle was hit from behind.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Shirley Owens, 65, of Milton was traveling west on Interstate 10 near mile marker 35 around 11:50 p.m. Sunday, when she was struck from behind by Patrick Harrington, 32, of Fort Walton Beach.

After being struck, Owens' Mercedes-Benz came to a final rest at the woodline on the north side of the roadway. Harrington's Toyota 4Runner overturned and came to a rest in the median, the report stated.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

No other information is available at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
