Semi-truck driver killed in 2-vehicle crash near Aurora Illinois

One man was killed and a woman was injured when an SUV and semi-truck collided at 7:14 p.m. on the toll road (I-88) between Butterfield Road and Route 56, according to Illinois State Police.
The semi-truck was traveling eastbound when it went through the grassy center median and into the westbound lanes of traffic, where the truck struck an SUV head-on, Master Sergeant Greg Minx said.

The semi-struck stopped in a ditch on the right side of the westbound lanes and caught fire, Minx said.

The driver of the semi-truck was killed in the crash, Minx said. His identity was being withheld early Wednesday as authorities notified his family.

The woman driving the SUV suffered non-life threatening injuries, Minx said.Westbound lanes were closed for over five hours following the crash until they were reopened at 1:02 a.m., state police said.
