Dunnellon ,FL : Driver dies after being ejected in chain-reaction crash on Saturday ,July 11th 2015
One person died Saturday after a driver crashed and hit three other parked cars, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
FHP troopers said a 1996 Chrysler Sebring being driven by a 71-year-old man from Citrus Springs, whose identity had not been released by late Saturday, was heading eastbound on East Pennsylvania Avenue or County Road 484 when the man lost control of his vehicle, causing the vehicle to sideswipe a Jeep Compass that was parked on the side of the road.
From there, the Sebring struck the rear of a GMC Canyon, which forced the GMC forward and caused it to jump the sidewalk. The GMC then came to rest against a third vehicle, an Isuzu Rodeo.
Officials said when the Sebring hit the back of the GMC, the Sebring overturned, struck the back of the Isuzu Rodeo and flipped onto its roof. During the last sequence of events, the driver of the Sebring, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene.
The crash occurred at the intersection of East Pennsylvania Avenue and Short Tower Road in the city limits of Dunnellon.
Dunnellon officials said the last time they had a traffic death was about five years ago, and it was less than two miles from Saturday's fatality. In the previous incident, Dunnellon officials said that crash involved two vehicles, and one person was killed.
