FORKS, WA : State Patrol investigating Mora Road wreck in Forks on Thursday, 29th September 2016

The Washington State Patrol is investigating a wreck on Mora Road on Thursday which injured two people and required the airlift of one to a Seattle hospital.

The state patrol reported that at 3:45 p.m., a 2002 Buick Rendezvous driven by Kevin S. Penn, 53, of La Push hit a Ford Taurus being driven by Wesley G. Schumack, 37, of Forks near 939 Mora Road.

According to the state patrol, both vehicles were traveling east when the Buick hit the Ford from behind. The Ford left the roadway and struck a tree.

Schumack is reported to have have fled the scene.

Two passengers in the Ford were injured. Cameron M. Widder, 11, of Forks was treated at the scene and released. Jesse G. Widder, 8, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Neither Schumack nor the juvenile passengers were wearing restraints, according to the state patrol.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.

The state patrol said Penn will face charges of DUI and reckless endangerment.

Trooper Russell Winger said Friday that detectives are in the Forks area, searching for Schumack. Charges might be filed against him, said Winger.
