Alachua County, FL : Florida man dies in I-75 crash on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2020
One man died and another was critically injured after a Wednesday afternoon crash on Interstate 75 in Alachua County ended with a truck on fire.
Willard Crowder, 79, of Greenville, Florida, east of Tallahassee, was driving a Ford F250 truck north on I-75 near mile marker 395 at about 4:30 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Also traveling in the truck was Lee Bishop, 82, of Lee, Florida, near Greenville.
The truck erupted in flames after hitting the tree, the release said, and Crowder exited the vehicle. He was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital.
Bishop, who was unable to exit the vehicle, died in the crash.
