Cleveland, OH : 8-year-old girl dead in car crash in East Side Cleveland on Saturday, April 23, 2016

An 8-year-old girl is dead after she was struck by a car Saturday on Cleveland's East Side, officials said.

Khadijah Abdullah of Cleveland was injured in the crash that happened at the intersection of East 124th Street and Corlett Avenue, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office said.

A 23-year-old man was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Impala west on the 12400 block of Corlett Avenue when the girl walked into the street, Cleveland police said. She was not in a crosswalk and was struck by the Impala.

Cleveland EMS took the girl University Hospitals Case Medical Center, officials said. She died Sunday.

The driver was not arrested or cited, officials said. The police department is continuing to investigate.
