LACON, IL : Lacon man killed in Marshall County crash on Sunday, March 19th 2017

A Lacon man was killed late Sunday in a single-vehicle rollover crash just north of town, authorities said.

Jason P. Leigh, 41, was driving south on Illinois Route 26 just south of Apple Knob Rd. around midnight when his SUV veered off the road several times for unknown reasons, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

He over-corrected and crossed the northbound lane, and the vehicle then flipped several times before landing on its top, a news release said. Leigh was not wearing his seatbelt and was pinned under the vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's department and county coroner's office. Also assisting at the scene were Henry and Lacon police, and Henry fire and ambulance crews.
