Pescadero, CA : One person dead, two injured in a head-on crash on Highway 1 near Ano Nuevo State Park on Monday evening, March 23, 2015

One person was killed and two others were injured when a car and a pickup truck were involved in a head-on crash on Highway 1 near Ano Nuevo State Park south of Pescadero on Monday evening, officials said.
The first reports of the collision came in just before 5:45 p.m. about two miles south of the San Mateo-Santa Cruz county line, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.
Callers told the CHP a black Chevrolet truck had crashed head-on with a dark blue Nissan sedan near Green Oaks Way and that one of the vehicles was on fire with occupants unable to get out.
One victim died from injuries. Two other injured parties were awaiting a helicopter medical transport, which was on its way from Napa as of 6:40 p.m. The victims weren’t identified.
Officials closed the highway in both directions as they investigated the crash’s cause and traffic was being turned around, but there was no estimate as to when lanes would reopen.
