A 26-year-old Lincoln man was killed in a motorcycle wreck in St. Louis Monday night.
Curtis T. Hudiburgh was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 8 p.m. crash, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The newspaper reported Hudiburgh was trying to avoid traffic ahead of him that had slowed down when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the back of a semitrailer.
His motorcycle was temporarily trapped under the semitrailer as it continued across a bridge. The truck's driver left the scene, police told the newspaper. Investigators are working to determine if the truck driver knew the motorcycle hit the trailer or was trapped underneath it.
The wreck happened on the Poplar Street Bridge and closed all eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 for hours.
Hudiburgh was a 2009 graduate of Grand Island Senior High and was a running back for the school's football team.
He played football for Hastings College from 2009 to 2013 while studying business administration, according to the college.
