Meridian, MS : Victims of fatal Highway 11 crash identified on Monday, August 7, 2017
The Mississippi Highway Patrol identified Carter Jace Little and Derrick Rashawn Moore as the victims of Monday afternoon's fatal crash on Highway 11 South, between Bronson Road and Barmer Lane.
Bonnie Roberson, 41, was in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Sgt. Andy West, of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop H. West said Moore, 18, drove a yellow 2015 Chevy Camaro convertible with Little, 21, as a passenger. Roberson drove a red 2014 Toyota sedan.
Moore and Little didn't wear seatbelts and the crash ejected Moore. Roberson wore her seatbelt but emergency responders had to free Roberson from her vehicle and listed her as incapacitated on the accident report.
West said the Camaro traveled north of the Toyota traveled south, adding that it appeared the driver of the Camaro lost control and crossed into the southbound lane.
The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. during a period of heavy rain. The Toyota had damage to the front, with the rear passenger door in a nearby ditch. The convertible had damage to the passenger side. Debris from the wreck covered more than 100 feet.
