PEORIA, IL : Peoria stabbing victim says he 'crashed out,' then went to hospital On Tuesday, 23rd August, 2016
A man was stabbed Monday night in a drunken fight at the old boat landing at the foot of Spring Street, but waited until Tuesday afternoon to seek medical treatment, according to the police report.
The 49-year-old man told police he went to the area "where homeless people had gathered to drink" to meet a friend he only knew by a nickname. By 7:30 p.m. the gathering had degenerated into a fist fight. The victim said he didn't know who or what started the fight, "but everyone was swinging at each other," he told the police.
He remembered few details, but said the person who stabbed him might have been in his late 30s or early 40s with a gray beard and hair. He stabbed him with a black, 4- or 5-inch knife.
The victim "crashed out" near where he was stabbed and went to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on Tuesday after he awoke. He was treated for a laceration to his left shoulder and released.
