Brevard County ,FL : 19- Years old Dominic Lee High school football star killed and several others injured after Crash on Tuesday ,June 2nd 2015
State troopers said they are waiting for toxicology reports to help them figure out what caused a crash that killed a star Osceola High School football player in Brevard County.
Dominic Lee, 19, lost control of his pickup truck and crashed around 5 a.m. on U.S. 192 in Melbourne Tuesday, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.
Investigators said the vehicle crossed the median and overturned several times, ejecting many of the occupants. Lee, a well-known football player at Osceola High School, wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time, FHP said.
According to FHP, there were four passengers in Lee's truck and all of them suffered serious injuries. Lee was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lee had talked to Channel 9 during the 2014 High School Football Media Day about his athletic career.
"I have 22 offers right now," Lee said. "I'm leaning toward Iowa, Iowa State and Oregon State right now."
Many fellow students took to social media to post memories of the standout football player, who was considered one of the top defensive backs in Florida.
"Knowing that I wanted to be here since I was young, it's great," Lee said during the Media Day.
Troopers said they're also working to determine if speed was a factor in the crash.
FHP said the group was believed to be heading to the beach when the crash happened. The passengers were identified as Da'ja Clayton, Rakeem Randall, Breyuna Walker and Darnell Clayton.
