Jefferson, OH : Man seriously injured in ATV crash north of Cedar Street on Monday, February 20, 2017
A 26-year-old Dorset Township man was seriously injured about 7:30 p.m. Monday when the all terrain vehicle he was driving ran into a parked car south on Elm Street about 100 yards north of Cedar Street, said Jefferson Patrolman Aaron McCracken.
Jefferson Police Chief David Wassie said Brett (Matt) McGinn was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon following surgery for a head wound.
Wassie said McGinn had not regained consciousness following the crash and had several other medical issues as well. Police were not able to talk with him because of the nature of his injuries and wanted to get McGinn to a hospital as quick as possible.
McCracken said the man was taken by ambulance to Ashtabula County Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
McCracken said it was unclear if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
