Portland,ME : Man assaults father, steals car, crashes it in Portland; several sent to hospital on January, Wednesday 3rd 2018

A crash involving several vehicles closed a section of Congress Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the crash happened between the State and Mellen stree intersections.

The driver of one of the cars had assaulted his father, stole the car and then crashed into several cars, police said.

Several people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash closed the area for about an hour.

Traffic was flowing again by 5:30 p.m.

No other details about the crash, including the driver's name, were available. Police did not identify which car was stolen.
