Benefit held for Belton man killed in hit-and-run accident

A Belton man continues to have an impact on his family and friends even after his death.A benefit was held Sunday at the Cowtown Mallroom for Leroy “Buddy” Bronson. Bronson died April 6 in a hit-and run-accident. Police said the driver of a 2004 Silver Ford F-150 pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Bannister and Wornall, when the motorcycle driven by Bronson and the truck collided in the intersection.Just two years before he died, Bronson’s wife and daughter were killed by a drunk driver. His family said after losing them, Bronson wanted to live everyday to the fullest — whether it was his love for motorcycles or swap meets.” We’re not going to let him fade away. Just because he is not here, we don’t want to let him fade away. We don’t want him to be just another one of those people who gets lost as a cold case,” said Tyler Russell, Bronson’s step son.Bronson’s family said police have not arrested anyone in the hit and run accident that killed him. They plan to use the proceeds towards other benefits to remember him.
