Oak Ridge, TN : 44-year-old man dead in motorcycle crash on North Illinois Avenue on Sunday evening, January 31, 2016

A two-vehicle collision Sunday evening on North Illinois Avenue and the Kroger Marketplace entrance left a 44-year-old Oak Ridge man dead from his injuries.
According to a city press release, Rufus E. Shephard, III, of Oak Ridge was driving a motorcycle northbound on North Illinois Avenue when it collided with a car driven by Noelle L. Patty, 29, of Oak Ridge. The release said Shephard died from his injuries but didn't specify if that was determined on scene or at a hospital.
The Oak Ridge Fire Department, Clinton Police Department, Anderson County Emergency Medical Services and the Oak Ridge Police Chaplain Corps all responded to assist the Oak Ridge Police Department.
The release said that no charges had been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
