A Granby was killed in a single-vehicle accident at 5:45 a.m. Monday on Hebron Road, two miles east of Granby in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Charles W. Knight, 53, was declared dead on the scene by the Newton County coroner, and his body was taken to Clark Funeral Home of Granby, the patrol reported.
The crash occurred when the vehicle he was driving ran off the left side of the road and overturned. Knight was ejected from the car. The patrol reported that the fatality was the 59th traffic-related death in Southwest Missouri this year.
• A Cassville man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident 9:35 p.m. Sunday on Highway 112, two miles south of Cassville in Barry County, according to the highway patrol.
Michael E. Easley, 28, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The crash occurred when the motorcycle he was riding tried to overtake another vehicle, lost control, ran off the road, struck a mailbox and overturned, the patrol reported.
