COLUMBIA, SC : 38-year-old Columbia man in crash on Abernathy Street in Columbia, SC on Thursday, 26th July 2018

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has released the name of the individual who died in a two-vehicle collision.

The accident happened at 6:35 p.m. on Abernathy Street in Columbia, SC.

Robert Deshay Garner of Columbia, SC, was the driver of a motorcycle that was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Garner was transported from the scene by Richland County EMS and taken to Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital where he died at 7:21 p.m. An autopsy indicated that the cause of death was due to blunt trauma to the torso.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
