Jonesboro, AR : One person was killed in a two vehicle crash at near a Jonesboro truck stop On Tuesday, May 17th, 2016
Police have confirmed that one person was killed in the crash near a Jonesboro truck stop Tuesday.
That is according to Paul Holmes, the public information specialist for the Jonesboro Police Department.
Emergency crews responded to the scene behind Love's Travel Stop at 5101 E. Parker Rd. around 12:45 p.m.
According to a crash report, 25-year-old Summer Sechrest was driving a Ford Explorer east on Parker Road.
She crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.
Thomas Howard, 61, of Caraway was driving a gravel truck west on Parker at that time.
He tried to stop, locking up the brakes and sliding into the eastbound lane.
Sechrest then swerved back into the eastbound lane and hit Howard head on.
Sechrest was pronounced dead at the scene by the Craighead County Coroner's Office.
Howard was not injured in the crash.
