Salt Lake city, UT : One teenage boy died and a teenage girl suffered critical injuries after their car rolled on State Road 18 in southern Utah on Sunday, May 22, 2016
A teenage boy is dead and a teenage girl is in extremely critical condition after their car rolled in a crash Sunday, according to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol.
The boy, 18-year-old Drex Taylor of St. George, was pronounced dead at the scene and his 16-year-old female passenger was taken by helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition.
The two were traveling north on Utah State Road 18, near mile post 17, when the vehicle drifted left across the southbound land and continued beyond the roadway. The vehicle rotated clockwise and slid across the highway's grassy shoulder.
The wheels on the left side of the car dug into the ground and the vehicle overturned. The car rolled back onto the highway and came to a stop on its wheels in the southbound lane facing southeast.
The male driver and his female passenger were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle.
Police believe fatigue contributed to the crash and had no reason to suspect drug or alcohol use.
