Chicago, IL : 3 killed in Far South Side crash in the 1400 block of West 112th Place on Wednesday, 1st January, 2020
Three women were killed and three other women and a 3-year-old girl were injured when two vehicles collided in the Morgan Park neighborhood late Wednesday, authorities said.
Ruby Johnson, 28, was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. Thursday following the crash in the 1400 block of West 112th Place, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Johnson, who the medical examiner said lived in the 10300 block of South Church Street, as well as another woman, age 30, were pronounced dead at Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago, and a third woman, 56, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, following the crash about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to police.
The names of the other two women killed has not yet been released.
The three women who were killed all were in a 2012 Nissan hatchback whose driver failed to stop at a red light while trying to turn left from 112th Place, causing it to collide with a black 2013 Nissan SUV, according to a police media notification.
Four people, including a 3-year-old, who were in the black SUV were not seriously injured, according to police. A 61-year-old woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center
another 61-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman were taken to Christ Medical Center, where their conditions were stabilized. The 3-year-old was stabilized at Comer Children’s Hospital.
No citations were issued in the crash because the driver believed to be at fault was one of those killed, according to police.
