A passenger in a box truck was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 35W in Burleson.

Officers responded to the wreck about 2 p.m. in the southbound lane of the freeway just south of Alsbury Boulevard, said Sgt. Jae Berg, a police spokesman.

The name of the victim had not been reported by Thursday night.

Berg said the crash involved the box truck and an 18-wheeler, but it wasn’t clear Thursday afternoon how the crash happened.

Another person in the box truck was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Police had all southbound lanes of the freeway closed at rush hour Thursday with traffic being diverted onto the shoulder, Berg said.
