TOWN OF MEDINA, WI : Blanchardville man killed in I-94 crash in Dane Co. identified on Wednesday, 20th January 2021

The indentity of the 44-year-old Blanchardville man killed in an overnight wreck along I-94 in Dane Co. has been released by the Dane Co. Medical Examiner’s Office.

Erik A. Brendeson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the Medical Examiner. Preliminary results of the forensic examination confirm that his death was a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

According to Medical Examiner, the crash happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes, near mile marker 251.4, in the Town of Medina. Investigators say the vehicle went off the right side of the road and into a ditch where it collided with the tree.

Brendeson, who was alone in the vehicle at the time, was not responsive when emergency crews arrived and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, authorities continued.

Additional testing is underway and the crash remains under investigation. All lanes of the highway were reopened around 5 a.m.
