CHESTER, NY : Crash in upstate New York leaves 2 dead on Sunday, 9th December 2018

Police say two people are dead following a crash in the southern Adirondacks.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says 89-year-old Walter Christie and 70-year-old John Lewis died as a result of their injuries in the Sunday morning crash in Chester. The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports a passenger riding with Lewis was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say Christie failed to negotiate a curve and veered into a westbound lane, crashing directly into Lewis’ car. The crash closed Route 8 until Sunday afternoon

Police are still investigating the accident, but officers say alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
