Melbourne ,FL : Drunken driver hits woman with car, leads police on chase Sunday ,June 28th 2015

A drunken driver led officers on a car chase through Melbourne Sunday after a hit-and-run, according to police.

Investigators said a witness called 911 to report a vehicle hitting a woman. The witness said she followed the driver and wrote down her tag number to help officers track down the vehicle.

“She's an older lady and it looks like she's swerving all over the road right now. I don't know if she threw this girl out or if she hit her. It happened so fast we looked down and looked up and seen the girl flying,” the 911 caller said.

Police said the suspect, Shyla Rollins, swerved into oncoming traffic and narrowly avoided a head-on collision while they were chasing her on Sarno Road.

Officers were able to pull over Rollins and arrest her a short time later.

A breathalyzer test revealed that her blood alcohol levels were more than twice the legal limit, police said.
