Belmont, NC : Woman killed in backhoe accident in Gaston County on Monday, November 14, 2016

A woman was killed when a backhoe overturned in Gaston County Monday, according to officials.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. on Catawba Cove Drive, which is off of Rufus Ratchford Road in Belmont. Officials confirmed a female was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released.

Investigators have not said how the equipment may have overturned, or if anyone else was injured.
