Lee County, FL : 22-year-old woman injured after wrong-way crash on I-75 in Lee County on Thursday morning, April 2, 2015

A 22-year-old woman is in critical condition after a wrong-way crash early Thursday morning on I-75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At around 3 a.m., troopers say a BMW 325i, driven by Rebecca Lucas, was heading north in the southbound lanes of the highway, approaching mile marker 141 (SR-80) when it began to lose control.

The vehicle traveled into the median, struck a guardrail and went across the southbound lanes before going down an embankment that divides I-75 and the exit ramp. The vehicle then flipped and hit a concrete pole.

Lucas was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital. Charges are pending an investigation. Alcohol results are also pending.
