Sebastian Saavedra was treated for a foot contusion after a hard three-car crash on Lap 176.
Saavedra had to be helped to an ambulance after sitting in his No. 17 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet. He must be reevaluated before he can return to racing, according to IndyCar.
Rookie Stefano Coletti and Jack Hawksworth also were in the crash that sent the 99th running of the Indianapolis 500 to yellow-flag contions until 16 laps remained.
Neither Coletti nor Hawksworth were injured.
Saavedra later Tweeted: “Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I’ll be up and running in no time. Just a passenger of a gnarly reck. #Lucky”
