Berea, SC : One dead following head-on collision in Greenville County on Sunday evening, December 4, 2016

Troopers said a Sunday evening crash in Greenville County claimed the life of at least one victim.

The call came in around 6:50 p.m.

According to the SC Highway Patrol Realtime Traffic Information site, the crash occurred on SC Hwy 183 near Farrs Bridge Road in Berea.

The coroner responded to the scene and confirmed that one victim had been killed in the crash.

According to troopers, the driver of a 2001 Dodge pickup truck was traveling north on SC Hwy 183 as the driver of a 2004 Saturn was traveling south along the same road when the driver in the Saturn traveled left of the center line and struck the Dodge pickup truck head on.

Troopers said both drivers involved were wearing seat belts during the crash. The driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries and was transported by EMS to Greenville Health System.

The driver of the Saturn succumbed to injuries at the scene of the wreck.

The coroner has not yet released the victim's identity.
