Salem , NH :Driver charged with negligent homicide in fatal Salem crash on Tuesday , June 16th 2015

A Massachusetts man has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with a fatal accident in Salem on Tuesday.Michael Gomez, 26, of Lowell, Massachusetts, was
arrested around 10:30 a.m. Friday at his home in Lowell.Police said Phillip Carter, 33, was attempting to pull out of the Salem Ford parking lot to travel northbound
on Route 28 on Tuesday when his car was struck by a car driven by Gomez.Carter was ejected from his vehicle in the crash, which left his car split in half. He was
taken by a medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.Police said Carter had just dropped his fiancée Melinda Nutter off
at the car dealership and was turning back onto Route 28 when he was hit. Nutter witnessed the crash, as did many other people who stopped to help."He was my whole
life. He was my everything. He was just taken away so quickly," Nutter told News 9. "He was so smart and so talented, and just such an amazing guy."Gomez was treated
for non-life-threatening injuries at Lawrence General Hospital.On Friday, Gomez was arraigned at Lowell District Court, where he waived extradition and was taken into
custody by Salem police. He will be arraigned on Monday in Salem.
