Escatawpa, MS : Two people killed and another person is in critical condition in a two-vehicle wreck about 2 miles south of Miss. 613 on Saturday night, August 16, 2014

Paula Yommer, 49, of Wilmer, Ala., has been identified as one of the two people killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Miss. 63 Saturday night, according to Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus. Broadus did not release the name of the second victim because she is still working to confirm the identity and notify the family. She said it will likely be Monday before she is able to release the man's name. Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Ben Seibert said James V. Barrow, 67, of Moss Point remains in critical condition and was transferred from Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula early today to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile. Yommer was the driver of a 1998 Mazda Protege who was travelling southward in the northbound lanes of Miss. 63 just below the intersection of Miss. 63 when she struck a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck driven by Barrow head-on. The truck flipped and landed on the driver's side, but witness to the crash pushed the car over and rescued Barrow from the burning vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.
