Sheffield, AL : Three killed in Sunday morning traffic accident at the intersection of 28th Street and Jackson Highway, November 2, 2014
Three people are dead after a wreck that occurred early this morning, officials said.
Police said the three men were killed in the one-car accident at the intersection of 28th Street and Jackson Highway.
The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of relatives.
Officials said one of the men was from Muscle Shoals and the other two had out of state driver's licenses.
According to 911 officials, the wreck was reported at 2 a.m.
Authorities at the scene said the vehicle, believed to have been a Mercury Grand Marquis or a Ford Crown Victoria, struck a traffic signal pole at the intersection.
Emergency personnel at the scene said the car struck the pole with such force the vehicle broke in half.
The accident is under investigation by the Sheffield Police Department
Sheffield police detective Capt. Randy Butler said a traffic homicide investigator from Muscle Shoals Police and the state troopers were also assisting with the investigation.
