Benton County, AR : Arkansas man faces negligent homicide, DWI charges in deadly I-49 crash on Thursday, 22nd August 2019

A Rogers man was arrested Thursday in connection with a fatal crash on Interstate 49.Randy Perea, 31, was booked at 2:01 a.m. Thursday into the Benton County jail. He was arrested in connection with negligent homicide, leaving the scene of personal injury accident, driving while intoxicated and reckless driving with injury or death.
Prosecutors have not filed any formal charges against Perea. He's being held in the jail with no bond set.
Bill Sadler, a spokesman for the Arkansas State Police, confirmed Thursday that Perea's arrest was in connection with a fatality on Interstate 49.
Ricky Schwellinger, 46, was outside his vehicle at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a car and died.
Two vehicles were parked on the interstate's outside shoulder, according to a report from state police. Another vehicle heading south veered off the interstate, sideswiped the other two and hit Schwellinger, according to the report.
