A Linden man was killed in a crash on Alabama Highway 28 in Marengo County early Sunday morning.

Maxie Lee Tatum, 32, was killed in the crash at 1:20 a.m., said Alabama State Troopers spokesman Trooper Reginal King. Tatum died when the 2004 Toyota Camry he was driving left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned, King said.

He was not wearing a seat belt, and died when he was thrown from the car. The crash happened near the 47 mile marker, two miles east of Linden in Marengo County. Troopers believe that speed and alcohol contributed to the crash, but are continuing to investigate.
