OLDTOWN, MD : Oldtown man killed in Route 51 crash on Monday, 12th October, 2020

An Oldtown man was killed Monday in a single-vehicle accident on state Route 51, Maryland State Police said.

Matthew Brands, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred just after 5 p.m. near Commerford Drive.

Police said the 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Brands ran off the side of the road, hit an embankment and overturned.

The road was closed about four hours.
