A 28-year-old man is dead after losing control of his vehicle a short time after leading Ocala police on a high-speed chase.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Vincent O'Neal Foster was declared dead late Monday as he rounded a curve, taking out a phone box and utility pole before crashing into a tree.
The Ocala Star-Banner reports an Ocala police officer had been following Foster after he was spotted running stop signs and driving fast.
Police say the officer stopped pursuing the 2000 Dodge Neon when it left the city's jurisdiction.
Troopers say Foster wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
