Norfolk, VA : One person was killed when two vehicles collided on May, Thursday, 18th 2017

One person was killed Thursday when two vehicles collided head-on south of Whalebone Junction on N.C. 12.

The road was closed for a while after one of the vehicles caught fire, said Boone Vandzura, chief ranger for Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The accident happened before noon.

One victim was flown to a hospital for treatment and another was carried by ambulance, Vandzura said.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating but could not be reached late Thursday. No victim names were available, Vandzura said.
