NEW SHARON, Maine — An older, partially blind horse has been killed by a car after escaping from its pasture in New Sharon.
State police say the horse was struck by a car driven by a 21-year-old Gardiner woman at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver's view had been blocked by another vehicle.
The horse, owned by Clyde Allen, of New Sharon, was 29 years old and blind in one eye.
The vehicle that struck the horse had some damage, but neither the driver nor her passenger reported injuries.
