Phoenix, AZ : Motorcyclist killed in central Phoenix crash, police say on Monday, 7th November 2016

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision Monday afternoon in central Phoenix, police said.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard, a Phoenix police spokesman, said a man on a motorcycle had rear-ended another vehicle on Third Street south of Osborn Road.

The man was taken to the hospital, but died of his injuries, Howard said.

Police closed Third street between Thomas and Osborn roads for the crash investigation.

The closure was expected to remain in place at least through the evening rush hour.

Dionne Hauke, who was working at nearby Ziggie's Music when the collision happened, described hearing an "engine rev" and a "bam."

"Someone told me he didn't look left or right and tried to pull in between to cars," Hauke said, describing the motorcyclist as an older gentleman with white hair.
