Port Lavaca, TX : Four-vehicle wreck sends three people to local hospitals on Wednesday, November, 15th 2017
Three people were transported to area hospitals this morning following a four-vehicle wreck.
At 6:26 a.m. a 2004 Dodge pickup driven by Joaquin Obispo, of Brownsville, who had Yvette Camarrita as a passenger was stopped on Farm-to-Market 1593 waiting to turn left at Gate 5 at Formosa Plastics, according to Trooper Ruben San Miguel with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A 2001 Kia Soul driven by Margaret Guzman, of Edna, was traveling behind Obispo going south bound, failed to control speed and hit Obispo on the bumper San Miguel said.
The impact from the hit moved Obispo forward into oncoming traffic. Obispo struck the left side of a 2004 Ford 250 pickup driven by Mark Rich of Manvel, who continued north and came to a stop facing south, San Miguel said.
Obispo continued to cross the northbound lane and hit a 2015 Nissan Sentra driven by Amador Yazmina of St. Johns, Arizona. Obispo finally came to a stop on the east side of FM 1593 in grass facing west, according to the trooper.
Obispo and Camarrita were transported to Memorial Medical Center, while Guzman was transported to Citizens Medical Center. None of them had life threatening injuries, San Miguel said.
DPS, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services and Port Lavaca Fire Department responded to the scene.
