Walnut Creek,CA : Motorcyclist injured in Highway 4 crash arrested at hospital on January, Friday 2nd 2018
A collision between a motorcycle and pickup truck on Highway 4 Friday night sent a 32-year-old Castro Valley man to the hospital with major injuries.
At approximately 6:26 p.m., the driver of a Kawasaki motorcycle was heading west on Highway 4 just east of Harbor Street when the driver merged lanes at the same time as a nearby pickup truck.
It was unclear who ran into whom, but the motorcyclist went down hard on Highway 4 at around 55 miles per hour and was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with major injuries to his extremities, according to Contra Costa Highway Patrol.
Ernesto Rodriguez, 32, of Castro Valley, was arrested at the hospital for misdemeanor driving under the influence. He was later released from custody, but is expected to remain hospitalized due to the severity of his injuries.
